Drove up Trinity Bay coast to Whiteway, where we spent two nights in the parking lot at the Pitcher's Pond golf course. Interesting, to say the least -very hilly and very windy but incredible sunsets. Next day we drove up the Baccalieu Trail almost to the tip of the Avalon Penninsula, through places like Cavendish, Hearts Desire, Hearts Delight, Hearts Content to Old Perlican. 71 communities with a population of 41,000. Hearts Content was the site of the first trans-Atlantic communication cable on July 27, 1866. Baccalieu Island is the largest seabird colony in the world. Newfoundland is home to 700 species of birds. Couldn't find an eating spot until Carbonear (first settled in 1630) on the Conception Bay side so had lunch then headed back for golf at 2:00. Only got in 14 holes because of the wind.
